Feng Shui Tips

WHAT IS FENG SHUI?

Feng Shui is the Chinese art or practice of positioning objects, buildings and furniture, based on a belief in patterns of yin and yang and the flow of chi that have positive and negative effects. The tradition of arranging the pieces in living spaces in order to create balance with the natural world. It’s believed object placements will affect a home’s energy. A home or business with good Feng Shui is in harmony. If it’s it out of balance it can affect all areas of your life from health, finances, relationships, spirituality, career and more. Here we will discuss some beginner tips to create harmony in your home.

1. DECLUTTER YOUR ENTRYWAY

The door, entryway or foyer is the “mouth of chi” because it’s how energy and chi enters a space. For this reason it’s important to keep clutter away from the main entrance. Do not place messy shoes, bags, umbrella,  and trash bins in this area. Also avoid positioning a mirror that faces the front door, because chi enters your home, it bounces straight off the mirror, and goes back outside.

2. KEEP STOVE AND KITCHEN TABLE SPOTLESS

Your stoves are money makers in Feng Shui. They should be kept clean and grease free because they bring good fortune and abundance. The same goes for the kitchen table. This space contains fire energy and powers up wealth and luck. Clutter in this area would negatively affect or confuse the energy that is moving about the house. So keeping these areas neat and tidy is very important.

3. NEVER PLACE BEDS IN DIRECT ALIGNMENT WITH DOORS.

You want to position your bed away for the door. It should be diagonal rather than directly in line with the door, nor should it be in line with any other doors in the bedroom. Chi enters rooms through the doors and windows. Sleeping directly in line with the door places you right in the pathway of all the forces that enter the bedroom. Adding a footboard or bench to the end of your bed can help create a shield from the flow of chi.

4. FEW MORE TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND

-Toss or fix any broken furniture, leaky plumbing, or light bulbs

-Keep electronics in the bedroom to a minimal

-Close bathroom doors when not in use

-Final tip is to do a space clearing from time to time. Our homes retain energy from inhabitants and visitors. It’s a good idea to take the time to clear old stagnant energy and welcome new and fresh chi. You can smudge your space with Sage for heavier energy and use Palo Santo or incense for everyday. Another thing you can do is use orange essential oil in a diffuser it helps with uplifting moods and energy. Whatever you decide to use always imagine your space filled with positive energy and abundance.
